SEAVIEW - Local political activists Nansen and Brett Malin will be hosting "Dinner Under the Stars with Dino Rossi" on Monday, July 12. The public is invited to attend. Rossi, Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, will be touring Pacific County on July 12, and stopping in Seaview for a dinner get-together starting at 6 p.m.

"We are honored to be chosen for this special day. A reporter from the Weekly Standard is coming from D.C., just to tag along with Dino as he visits our corner of the state," Nansen Malin, Pacific County republican chairwoman, said. "I want to give the national reporter a good showing of supporters among a picturesque setting here in SW Washington. We invite all conservatives, 'Dinocrats' and future Rossi supporters to come out to see him and to ask him questions about his campaign."

The event will be held at the Malin residence, 3715 L Place in Seaview. All are encouraged to take the opportunity to meet, hear and talk with Rossi at an old-fashioned community outdoor potluck, the Malins said in a press release. Bring a dish to share, and a sweater in case the evening weather is cool.

As the U.S. Senate election has progressed this year, Nansen Malin said she was the first to dig out her old Rossi signs and adjust them for the Senate race. Malin brought her homemade 'Rossi for Senate' signs to the GOP State Committee meeting in Yakima last April.

"It was before Dino decided to get into the race," she said. "I wanted to let him know of our support! Dino has the experience, popularity and money raising ability needed to retire Patty Murray. I have met and worked with all the other Senate candidates, but what we needed was someone like Dino!"

The latest poll conducted for Seattle's King 5 by Survey USA shows Murray and Rossi in a tight race. The primary poll shows Murray at 37 percent and Rossi at 33 percent, with Republican Clint Didier at 5 percent and Republican Paul Akers at 3 percent. A Rasmussen poll on June 2d showed Murray and Rossi tied at 47 percent in a head-to-head matchup.
